CAFETERIA OUSTED BY EXPANSION OF DAIRY GOODNESS CENTER

'The GDCI caffeteria will be shutting its doors' was the message from an anonymous employee last week.
The new 'Dairy Goodness Center,' is expanding, offering more prodhcts and has driven the caffeteria into recievership. The caffeteria can't compete with the convenient location and lower prices at the DGC.
Alex gardiner, shown in the picture, was a lifetime customer, and supposed advocate for the caffeteria. He is seen here consuming a product from the DGC. Gardiner was unavailable for comment. The DGC will be adding a second machine near the location of the now closed caffeteria, to cope with the rising de,and for its products.

  1. I'm not sure if your information is entirely correct. Please check on the whole story. The purpose of the Dairy Goodness Center is to offer healthy choices (that are or compliment dairy) and the profits go to the group (usually the cafeteria) that has applied for the DairyGoodnessCenter contract with the school's permission, and taken responsibility of excess costs and maintenance to it. The Dairy Farmers of Canada do not profit except on a wholesale to the vendor through which ever dairy supplies. The whole program is concentrated on promoting natural dairy and healthy choices from Canadian Dairy farmers. This is often quite profitable to the cafeteria company that is managing and maintaining it and can help maintain staff when the cafeteria itself is not profiting. The Dairy Farmers of Canada has contributed much of the costs to enable most schools, students and cafeterias to have this opportunity and choice. School cafeteria companies are having an exceptionally difficult time keeping students coming for lunches/snacks there (especially with the newest health criteria's for menus at schools). I do not know of the specifics at your school, if the managing cafeteria there, are the ones that supplied the contract for the Dairy Goodness Center. I have some experience working with cafeteria staff at high schools across Ontario, and the cafeteria workers were some of the most caring exceptionally hard working people I have ever had the privilege to work with. I most certainly hope that the DGC was not the cause of a cafeteria's downfall ...(then part of the purpose was lost). The DGC offers to help their revenue. Like I said, I don't know the specifics there but if you would like to investigate, find out who (or which group) has the cafeteria contract with your school and email the questions "are you the managers of the DGC (dairy Goodness Center)?" if they are, ask "if the DGC is profitable, why is it not funding cafeteria staff to stay in place?" if they are not the managers of the DGC I would ask "why not and who is". There also may be a phone number or email for the manager of this program at Dairy Farmers of Canada posted on the machine (or the school office staff should know).
If your truly interested in why some wonderful people at your school were dismissed, Than I hope you do 'spread some enlightenment'
Good luck on your studies and contributions ...I believe you are the future :)
